The art show pieces continue! This is another of the three primary pieces, like [link] , this one featuring Ral, 's jungle-born wild man. Strong, silent, stalwart, intense... but a big soft kid at heart. ;3

This was without a doubt one of the most challenging of the pieces I did in terms of coloring... the pose was taken from a good reference picture, so that wasn't too difficult, though I'm still working on my male anatomy mastery. The REAL challenge was the dappled tree lighting. I wanted to capture the green atmosphere of a forest/jungle, as well as the golden light passing through the leaves. I'm pretty happy with the final result, though it's not quite as good as I would have liked still. Also, I painted the background first before coloring Ral, which helped the composition a good deal, imo. I've been trying to do that more with my pieces, so that I don't half-ass the backgrounds as much as I used to >.>
